WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Regardless of your personality type, pressure happens to everyone.  We all respond differently to situations when we’re put on the spot.  As prepared as you can be, there’s always someone has to ask a question that you may not be ready for.  Learning tips and techniques that will make you look confident in front of any audience will decrease your stress level.

The session provides lots of opportunity for participants to demonstrate new knowledge and skills with instructor coaching and group constructive feedback.  Each participant must come prepared to speak about a work-related topic.

COURSE OUTLINE

Understanding Your Audience

  • Identify the four types of personalities
  • Learn how to deliver to their needs

Listening

  • Ten active listening techniques
  • Practice paraphrasing

Delivery

  • Learn to relax
  • Use stall tactics
  • Demonstrate professional body language
  • Eliminate “fillers,” i.e., ums
  • Practise eye contact
  • Be aware of technical jargon
  • Demonstrate vocal skills

Presentation Practice

  • Each participant will speak for approximately 5 minutes on a work-related topic
  • The instructor and class participants will challenge the speaker about content
  • Constructive feedback will be shared with opportunity for improvement

METHODS TO BE USED

Program delivery will appeal to all adult learning styles to encourage active participation and learning. Learning Aid cards will be provided for reinforcement.
