John is a strategic adviser known for plainspoken, easy-to-understand explanations of complex topics — particularly artificial intelligence and storytelling, two skills he believes every modern professional needs
Through his workshops, he helps public servants put generative AI to practical, responsible use, and coaches professionals on the use of storytelling to increase their executive presence and craft messages that influence senior decision-makers.
During his twenty-year career in the public service, John served as Vice President, Corporate Services and Corporate Secretary at a federal crown corporation ($600M budget, 8,000+ workforce).
John holds a Master of Philosophy from Oxford, a law degree and Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria, and a BA from the University of Toronto. He also holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
When not working, John enjoys travelling with his wife, hiking while listening to podcasts, and getting his heart broken by the Blue Jays.
